Research interests

 

•    Lichen systematics, in particular the taxonomy and phylogeny of the family Candelariceae.

 

•    Arctic-alpine lichens

 

•    Swedish Lichen Flora in general

 

•    Parmeliaceae in the Nordic Countries

 

 

Curriculum Vitae

 

Born on the 18th of July 1969 in Uppsala, Sweden. Moved to Uddevalla in 1972 (I think) where I grew up and attended  the nine-year compulsory school. My family also includes two younger brothers, Erik and Johan and one younger sister, Karin.

 

Education:

 

1985 - 1988       Upper secondary school at Östraboskolan, Uddevalla.

 

1989 - 1990       Military service as a medical orderly at T1/I4 in Linköping.

 

1990 - 1996       Enrolled as an undergraduate student in the 4-year Natural Science Programme

 

1996 - 2005       Enrolled as a PhD-student in Systematic Botany at Lund University. Project title: ” The lichen genus Candelariella in western North America"

 

Jobs:                 During this time I have also found the time to occupy a fair number of jobs. The duration of these have lasted from a few hours to c. 1 year. The jobs include: car builder, laundry man, nurse's assistant, sanitary technician, laboratory animal, newspaper man, assistant clerc, upper secondary school teacher, market research assistant, bartender, assistant clerc, distributor of advertising brochures, museum assistant, research technician and botanical guide.

 

Editor:              Appointed as co-editor of Lavbulletinen published by the Swedish Lichen Society from 2002.

 

 

Field work

 

Sweden 1996– Mostly in the SW provinces of Skåne, Bohuslän and Dalsland, and in the northern provinces of Lule, Lycksele and Torne Lappmarker.

 

Lithuania 1997 Neringa (the Kuronian Spit).

Database

I maintain a database of all my lichen collections. These are deposited at the Botanical Museum, Lund (LD). Currently (Feb. 2005) c. 3000 specimens are included in the database mainly from western North America, the Canadian Arctic Islands and Scandinavia.
